Re: SAP accuracy
Flew a couple more ILS approaches last night and the localizer seemed to be right on. This included one at the airport where I had noticed the issue the other day. Only thing I noticed this time, on both approaches I lost the GS needle for about 10 - 15 secs around the time I was capturing it at the...

Re: SAP accuracy
good input, I will do the tests and advise next time I am up. No, there were no other planes around the runway when I noticed this issue. Do you know how the GRT flags a localizer or GS failure. I use the yellow needles and I assume they just go away if the EFIS senses a signal error? I think I have...

Re: SAP accuracy
Bob, I agree. But I am sure that the needles were centered on the GRT as the air was still and the TT was doing a nice job, This ILS has had some GS issues over the last couple years but the identfier was coming in loud and clear and it seemed to be working fine. One other thing that is funny, when ...

SAP accuracy
I was out practicing some coupled ILS approaches this weekend (SL30 to my HS/WS system) and noticed that the centered needles were putting me about 50 yards left of center at DH and below at KSVH. I then turned on the SAP and noticed that it was right on the button. I realize the SAP is GPS derived ...

Attitude info on Map Page
I heard somewhere that there is a way to show a attitude horizon on the Map pages. I want to check this out as an enroute tool. I looked through the manual and my setup screens for my HS but do not see how to turn it on. anyone know how this works?

Re: SAP for IFR operations
CFI flys with me often. He knows I know how to the use the autopilot. He is a 29000 hour TWA captain and strongly endorses the use of the autopilot in IFR operations. What I meant was that I was not using the autopilot during the IPC. I had read a post by Paul Dye where he was explaining that he lik...

SAP for IFR operations
I finished up my Instrument Competency Check last night with my CFII in the RV7a. Of course he made me do everything without the autopilot and I found that the Synthetic Approaches in the GRT significantly simplifies hand flown approaches in the sensitive little RV7a. Just wondering how many folks a...

Re: upgrading single screen WS to HS
I did exactly that, one of my WS units needed repair so I elected to upgrade it to WS. Great improvement is quality and useability. I love the engine strip at the bottom and I now fly with the split PFD/HSI display almost all the time. GRT transferred everything for me, so I just plugged it in and f...
