Re: USB GPS
Please disregard the previous post, I now have this working
HXr not reading GPS data
... as discussed above in this thread, I have an OpenFlightSolutions FlightBox (similar to the SkyRadar Bob mentions using above) that is providing ADS-B in. The FlightBox is connected to a serial port on the HXr. The TIS and FIS portions of the data are being read and displayed just fine by the HXr...

totalizer fuel used vs logbook fuel used (HXr)
Hi, I routinely have a discrepancy between the totalizer fuel used and the fuel used that appears in the logbook. The difference hasn't been anything greater than 0.2 gal, so really just an annoyance. Is there an explanation?
Re: USB GPS
Ah, ok. Then since I have the ADS-B in wired to a serial pin, I will attempt to have HXr utilize the GPS portion of that stream through serial, as Bob is doing through his USB. Thanks, that saves me some time.
Re: USB GPS
Thanks Bob. Thought I might as well plug the little bugger in and see what happens as it is just gathering dust on a shelf. Maybe it'll come in handy when my Garmin 430W goes on the blink. Nevermind that in 10+ years the 430W hasn't so much as farted even once. My ADS-B in is via FlightBox but I use...
USB GPS
I have a USB WAAS GPS left over from an Open Flight Solutions FlightBox device. Was wondering if a USB GPS device like this can be read by the HXr system through a USB port, and if so, any guidance for set-up. I currently keep a USB drive in one USB port for data/logbook download and a bluetooth don...

Multiple approaches
Today I flew multiple practice approaches using the HXr driven by a Garmin 430W. The flight plan and nav mode source are set to external. The system performed flawlessly during a full procedure turn. I then "EXECUTED" the approach on the HXr when established inbound. The system displayed l...

Re: Selectable Appr & GPS G/P deviation display
The built-in approaches on the HXr proc software and database are a separate function from the Garmin. If you are trying to fly an approach from the Garmin, do not load the approach on the HXr. You should have the HXr follow the external flight plan and use the ARM function to capture the approach ...

Re: Selectable Appr & GPS G/P deviation display
re #2. What does the 430 annunciate? Does it say ‘LPV’? I have seen some confusion where there is a long straight in segment from the IAF, with step-down fixes leading to the FAF. During the step down segment, the 430 will say ‘terminal’ mode, and there will be no glide slope. Just prior to the FAF...

Selectable Appr & GPS G/P deviation display
Happy New Year folks. I am configuring an HXr system for IFR use after about a year of not using those functions much. I am experiencing the following issues. Any ideas for solution? System: single HXr, 7.02proc6 software, current nav db cycle, 430W with current nav db 1. When selecting an approach ...
