GPS Input for Trig ADS-B out

Post by gdtrfb58 »

Will the GRT (HXr) supply the necessary GPS data to the Trig to "trigger" the ADS-B out?

The HXr can send GPS data to the Trig, or you can connect a GPS directly to the Trig's GPS input.

Will the GPS Data "automatically" go through the Trig "adapter" from the HXr or does it need to be configured in software or need any additional hard-wire connections?

Excellent questions...if all the necessary data that the trig needs comes through the HXr (with serial adapter) that would really simplfy installation! I've been debating to go to the TRIG22 this year(been nice to fly the plane without thinking about doing more panel work). But if it's only a couple wires I may be swayed! Might be time to dump the GTX327....

In the SET MENU, General Setup, TT22 page, configure the GPS Input and GPS/TIS Rate. If you are going to wire a GPS directly to the Trig, configure it to match the GPS. Otherwise, NMEA0183 and 9600 are the recommended settings. The HXr will send GPS data in the same format to the adapter. The adapter will prefer the direct GPS source. If no data is received from the direct input, it will use the GPS data from the HXr.
