General Setup - Flight ID & Address

Post by bdtopp »

I noticed in the General Setup entries for Flight ID & Address. I could not find anything in the manual for documentation on these settings. Is the Flight ID the N-number of aircraft, and, Address the Mode S code assigned to airplane (hex on octal?) for ADS-B?

Thanks.

See this from GRT; http://grtavionics.com/Dual%20XGPS170.pdf

The unique ID that the FAA associates with your plane as I recall is OCTAL and needs to be converted to HEX. There are converters online if you don't want to do it in your head. The EFIS and your "Extended Squitter" transponder will want this.

This info is valuable for your EFIS so that they can do "ownship suppression", i.e. don't show YOU as an ever present traffic threat to YOU. :-)
