Dual AHRS swap to adaptive questions

Post by bferrell »

A couple of quick questions on this upgrade.

First, I see the new dual unit only has one set of pitot/static ports. Is this true of the upgrade units as well? It's probably not a problem, but would be slightly simpler if it had the same connections as the one it's replacing.

Second, I have never quite gotten correct wind indications, I think partially because my dual mag calibrations - though performed - aren't quite accurate enough. Would I expect improved performance with the adaptive unit? Anybody have first-person feedback they'd like to share?

The Dual Adaptive AHRS shares one set of pitot/static ports. The air data is encoded once and shared with each AHRS. I don't think we are doing them any other way, although it was under consideration at one time.

We don't expect a significant change in the accuracy of the magnetometer or anything that would affect the wind calculations.
