Started up my CH750/Jabiru 3300 / EIS 6000 / GRT Sport FX EFIS this morning and was surprised to see, on the EFIS display, all 6 EGTs WAY over the alarm setting of 1400 F., like they were all over 2400. CHTs were normal for a minute or so, and then they, too, shot up over 500 or so. Oil temp also, over 325, All other EFIS readings normal; fuel, totalizer, PFD data, Map data, etc. The EIS readout was perfectly normal in all respects, EGTs, CHTs, oil temp all normal. Rebooted the EFIS, same bizarre behaviour.
Checked the D sub connector to the EFIS, seated properly and physically held in position with typical D sub connector machine screws.
Attaching a pic taken after engine shutdown. The EGTs dropped, and some look [sort of] normal, but just before engine shutdown, all were sky high RED.
Has anyone run in to such a failure? More details on demand (although the above text pretty much sums it up...) Thanks!
OK, THIS is weird...
Re: OK, THIS is weird...
I seem to recall someone else had something like this. Turns out that person ran half of his probe wires to the box, and the "returns" to ground. Both pairs of wires from every probe have to go to the specified place on the EIS.
Re: OK, THIS is weird...
Should have mentioned that the EFIS has been installed and working properly for over 50 hours, so mis-wiring is not the issue here...
Re: OK, THIS is weird...
And the EIS shows the correct temps,,,
Re: OK, THIS is weird... SOLVED
Seems I had inadvertantly change the EFIS setting "temperature units from EIS" from F to C ;'(
Pilot error, in other words ;') As usual ;')
