ADS-B tower indication on Mini AP

I flew today for the first time with my new Mini AP. There seems to be a bit of communication latency between it and my Sport SX but I’m otherwise very happy with it. The display resolution is amazing. Besides the Sport SX I have a SafeFly GPS/Echo UAT providing ADS-B in/out to the Sport SX. Traffic is shared to the Mini via the interdisplay link and works well. One oddity I noticed is that whereas when in map mode the Sport SX shows the number of ground stations, usually 2 in my local area, the Mini display reads zero no matter how many towers the Sport SX is displaying. Everything else seems to be working fine.

For what it’s worth I upgraded both devices to the latest software, this morning.

The GDL90 interface standard for ADS-B doesn't report the tower information with traffic, so our displays count the towers from the FIS-B/weather data. The serial display link transfers the traffic but not the FIS-B/weather data, and the software doesn't currently transfer the tower count any other way. This means your Mini doesn't have any way to get a tower count.

Interesting. So if I understand correctly that means if I want FIS-B weather I can get it on the Sport but not the Mini?

Also thanks for adding distance filtering for TIS-B. Most helpful.

Followup: the "communications latency" I experienced turned out to be something else. I had also noticed that flight plans entered in one display didn't propagate to the other. Turns out that with dual displays one needs to be set as primary, something mentioned in the Sport SX setup guide but not in the Mini manual. Fixed that; now the Mini knows which display is boss.

Correct, FIS-B weather does not transfer over the serial display link used by the Sport and Mini displays. The only way to get FIS-B weather on those screens is to wire them directly to the ADS-B receiver.
