Sport EX vertical speed indication

Post by olefish »

On a fresh install of the Sport EX, my altitude tape, and actual altitude, seem to work as they should. It is the VSI indicators and actual readouts, that are far from accurate. Straight and level it seems pretty close, reading nothing, but in climb and decent they go a bit crazy, varying sometimes 100's of feet with the same, consistent, rate of airplane movement. Is this just the nature of the beast, or did I miss some portion of a menu that might allow smoothing, or is something inaccurate in my installation. As is, the VSI indication is useless.

It should not be doing that. VSI is computed from the altitude sensor rate of change with filtering. Do you see the altitude bouncing around? I will have to get other opinions on possible causes. We might need you to record some data with the DEMO RECORD function.

It won't let me upload the demo file. But I did forward it to Mark Allen via email.
