Can an AUX input be put on a switch? (CS-01, CS-02)

Post by hplevyak »

GRT Support,
I'm configuring my EIS Auxiliary inputs (1 thu 6). Can an AUX input be placed on a switch? I have two current sensors CS-01 and CS-02 that I'd like to feed to a single AUX input #5 and make switch selectable.

Here's my current AUX input setup.
Auxiliary Input #1 Rochester Resistive Fuel Gauge (Left Tank): 30-240 Ohm
Auxiliary Input #2 Fuel Pressure (LPS-02): VDO 30psi Sending Unit)
Auxiliary Input #3 Rochester Resistive Fuel Gauge (Right Tank): 30-240 Ohm
Auxiliary Input #4 Manifold Pressure Sensor (MAP01) 5-31” 200/60
Auxiliary Input #5 Switch UP: Current Sensor (CS-01) 100 AMP (Hall Effect Sensor) - Alternator B Lead
Auxiliary Input #5 Switch DN: Current Sensor (CS-02) 50 AMP (Hall Effect Sensor) - Battery Bus (+)
Auxiliary Input #6 Power-Safe Back-Up Battery Charge Rate Monitor Output (DSub Pin 4)

Thanks for your guidance here.

Yes you can use an aux with a switch BUT, you have to have an aux that has the same scale factor and offset settings or one of them will read incorrectly. if you had two CS-01's or two CS-02's it would work because the settings are the same but you cant mix and match.

Thanks Ben! That helps.

I also discussed with Carlos today and he said I could use one of the analog inputs to my EFIS HX display as well....since I had run out of AUX inputs on the EIS.

He stated to set it up in the EFIS configuration as an "EIS Compatible Input" and then it would allow me to enter the same scale, offset parameters, and a display label.

I'm looking at the CS-02 wire schematic and it also calls for the 4.8V excitation input. So if I use the EFIS analog input to display CS-02 amps....what do I use for the 4.8V excitation (blue) wire connection now?

Heres my current EIS and EFIS analog input setup.

HX EFIS #1
Analog Input 1 - TBD
Analog Input 2 - TBD
Analog Input 3 - TBD
Analog Input 4 - Elevator Trim Position Indicator Input
Analog Input 5 - Dimming from LC50 Dimmer Controller
Analog Input 6 - Page Flip
Analog Input 7 - Flap Position Indicator Input
Analog Input 8 - CS02 Battery (+) Charge/Discharge

EIS 4000
Auxiliary Input #1 Rochester Resistive Fuel Gauge (Left Tank): 30-240 Ohm
Auxiliary Input #2 Fuel Pressure (LPS-02): VDO 30psi Sending Unit)
Auxiliary Input #3 Rochester Resistive Fuel Gauge (Right Tank): 30-240 Ohm
Auxiliary Input #4 Manifold Pressure Sensor (MAP01) 5-31” 200/60
Auxiliary Input #5 Current Sensor (CS-01) 100 AMP (Hall Effect Sensor) - Alternator B Lead
Auxiliary Input #6 Power-Safe Back-Up Battery Charge Rate Monitor Output (DSub Pin 4)

Thanks,
Howard

Tap into the 4.8 volts from the EIS for both sensors.

As a follow up....I spoke with Mark from GRT EFIS support and he said I could use the same ground and EIS Excitation output from the EIS for the CS-02 wires. Then just send the Green - Output from CS-02 over to the HX EFIS Analog input.

Thanks GRT Support!
