RPM sensor

Post by jackprock »

I current have a Westach 720-14R Hall Effect sensor for the second RPM connected to a standard Slick mag. I did a test with a multi-meter, and it seems
that the sensor only varies between 0 and 0.5 volts when I slowly turn the prop.
In the EIS setup, I set the second RPM input to sensitive , but it still does not detect the RPM.

Two questions, is there some other settings in the EIS to get this to work?

If not, is there a recommendation for an easy installation to get RPM into the second RPM port.

Just for info, the primary RPM is connected to an electronic ignition, and that works fine.

If ignition #2 is a mag why not run a wire, thru a resistor, to the mag switch, per the instructions?

I inherited the Westach sensor from the previous owner of the engine. I wanted to try and get it working
first. The fall back is always the resister method.
