Magnetometers

Post by deej »

Trying to think ahead for a possible Mini-X installation.
How close can you mount two magnetometers? Can they be mounted side by side, or on top of each other, or is there a minimum distance between magnetometer units?

Thanks,

Magnetometers can be mounted on top of each other or side by side-- they won't mess with each other.

Can an HX and a Mini-X share the same magnetometer, or do I have to install one for each?

Thanks,

You'll need one for each. The Mini magnetometer has different wiring and different hardware, but it uses the same case.

I would like to mount my magnetometer in the wing tip. My wings are removable. Can I install a 4 pin Molex connector at the wing junction without interfering with the signal of the magnetometer?

You can add your own connector to the Mini remote magnetometer. A good quality connection with gold plated contacts is recommended for its corrosion resistance.

The magnetometer is documented in the Mini-X and Mini-AP wiring and connector definitions on the Mini Documentations webpage. The 9 pin D-Sub is included by stating which wire goes to which pin on the magnetometer plug.
