HDG to Intercept VOR or GPS OBS Course with Auto Sequencing

Equipment: GTN 650, HXr, GRT Auto pilot servos

Goal: Fly a heading - in HEADING Mode - to intercept a VOR or GPS OBS course, have the auto-pilot automatically switch to ENAV or GNAV mode as appropriate and turn to intercept the course when reasonably close to the course (ie when the HSI needle starts to move)

Is this possible?

The behavior I'm seeing currently is that the "next up" mode on the the auto-pilot is in black (ENAV or GNAV) and does not auto-sequence.

When I manually switch the auto-pilot mode to ENAV or GNAV the auto-pilot immediately initiates a turn to intercept regardless of distance to the course line.

If it is possible, do I have an incorrect setting or what is the correct order of button pushing?

No, there are no HDG-to-VOR or HDG-to-GPS automatic intercept modes. The only HDG intercept modes we have are for the LOC/ILS, GPSV, and SAP approach modes.
