Testing Oil Temp Sensor

My Oil Temp reads 15 degrees above OAT when in my hangar with plenty of time to stabilize. That doesn't bother me if it reads oil temp correctly in flight, but I'd like to check it.
1. Can I just remove it from the engine and place the probe in boiling water and compare the EIS reading to a thermometer? Or do I need to provide a ground for the probe?
2. Can the GRT oil temp probe be calibrated if needed?
