EGT oscilation

Post by Sal »

I have egt sensors cylinder 3 and 4 oscilating about 5 to 8 degress centergrade in a short cycle. Would this be failing probes. the engine only has 140 hours. any suggestions appreciated.

From Eric:

The "oscillations" on cylinders 3 and 4 seem to have some coherence between them, so more likely an engine issue or an EIS issue.

Has the spark plug wire routing changed so that wire(s) are closer and/or more parallel to the EGT wiring?

Hello Jeff
I swapped EGT Leads from Cylinder 4 to Cylinder 2 and Cylinder 2 Leads to Cylinder 4
The oscilation stayed at Cylinder 4 although it was reading Cylinder 2.
There have been no changes made to the position of leads and they do not run close or paralell to ignition leads.
So I was thinking it may be somthing in the EIS instrument. What do you think?

Eric says it sounds like it could be a fault in the EIS. If you want to get it checked out you can fill out the Service Request Form from our web site and send the EIS in with a copy of the form inside the shipping box.
