Display of GPS approach type

While giving an IPC on a certified Garmin equiped aircraft, I noticed a great feature. On the CDI for a GPS approach it showed on the EFIS the type of appoach, ie LPV, or LP +V, or LNAV, whatever. I know my GPS of course has this information but having it right on the EFIS during the approach was very nice. Could we add that?

The type of approach is not transferred to the EFIS by the GPS. There is no standard data field in the RS232 or ARINC 429 protocols to transfer this information. Garmin has their own secret protocols to transfer this data to their equipment.

Not trying to be a pest I promise! Attached is the screen from a friend's Advance screen. His GPS is a 650. It appears to have the LPV label on the screen during the approach he was flying. This would be a nice feature if at all feasible.

I found it in the ARINC 429 GAMA data. It has the ability to say LNAV, LNAV/VNAV, LP, and LPV. We'll have to figure out what we're going to show and where.
