configurable GPS

Post by 330drvr »

Not a critical issue but I have the optional configurable GPS as a part of the dual Adaptive AHARS I added earlier this year. I have both serial (in and out) connected. Where do i "configure" the GPS?

Currently, the only configuration options are the serial port settings. If you already have a GPS1 you must configure it as GPS2. You can't connect more than 2 GPS units to one display. On the serial port you wired it to, in SET MENU, General Setup, set the rate to 9600, the input to NMEA0183 GPS# (GPS1 or GPS2), and the output to NMEA0183 GPS# Configuration (use the same GPS number). Further down in General Setup, set the GPS# Flight Plan Source to Internal so the EFIS knows to use the internal flight plan with that GPS.

Thanks Jeff. By the way, that GPS is terrific. Logs on very quickly, even in the hangar when testing stuff. During rolls the GNS 480 will lose lock and the HX EFIS effortlessly transitions to the AHARS GPS while the 480 sorts things out. A very nice and useful backup GPS.
