If I install a new update does it include all previous updates?

Usually there are two versions of software updates offered. A full update, which requires nothing. And a "patch" which will update version 5c to 5d, for example.

Can someone help me out? I've got the GRT SX Efis with the current Efis software v.9d installed. I haven't flown for nearly 2.5 years and I see there have been several updates since. Today I went to update the navigation database and I got a "database file too big" message. Is this due to the Efis software being out of date and is it a simple update to the Efis software to version 12 that will fix this? Thanks for your help guys/girls.

The upgrade process is very simple. Check out http://www.grtavionics.com/sportsxsw.html for instructions and the software.

Still have issues with loading updates. Tried yesterday to load the latest efis upgrade package and no luck. Message said my USB storage device was recognized but then the file was not found. I did download succcessfully the latest SSXUp.dat to my USB stick prior. So now I'm not sure what's going on. Do I need previous efis versions. I'm jumping from 9d to 12. Previous versions are not available on the update page. Going to talk with GRT today.

Make sure the file name on the stick is exactly as you posted. If your computer had older updates stored it may have re-named the file ....up1 or ...up2 etc, that won't work. Also the file must be in the root directory on the stick, not inside any folders. The GRTs are a little picky with memory sticks (some don't work) but I think if it says it sees the stick it should work (?)

Newer web browsers will add parentheses and a number to a new copy of a file, like SSXUp(2).dat. You must remove the (2) in that case so the EFIS can find the right file name. The same problem can occur with the navigation database file, NAV.DB.

When you are updating the main Navigation Database, use the Load Navigation Database function. It sounds like you tried to use the Update User Database function, which has a size limit.
