Avare app and more- What tablet apps work with your receiver

Post by katieb »

In anticipation of the many ADS-B questions I always get from curious folks at OSHKOSH, I've recently thrown together a brochure that lists the ADS-B receivers we currently work with, plus the apps they work with. So, if you're in the market for an ADS-B receiver and you like flying with a certain tablet app, hopefully you can pick a receiver that will work with your app AND your GRT EFIS. You can find it on the GRT website's ADS-B page, here: http://grtavionics.com/adsb.html The link to the brochure is near the top of the page and the chart is on Page 2 of the PDF.

Of related interest, if you are an Android user, check out the Avare app: http://apps4av.com/avare-overview/ It's a FREE open source app that is constantly being developed and improved by pilots who are interested in programming. Avare supports the Dual XGPS170, iLevel SW, FreeFlight Xplorer and Rangr, and as of today, the SkyRadar DX. (It also has free geo-referenced sectionals. :D ) Check it out!

I can verify that the Avare app does pickup the ADSB weather from a Flight Data Systems Pathfinder Remote ADSB receiver when run on a Nexus 7 tablet. I have this ADSB receiver installed in a RV7a and an RV10 with GRT HXs and have flown a number of hours using the Avare app.
