Jeff, as discussed, the Garmin interface you wrote works PERFECTLY with the AH502 devices... photo of test attached!
*Notes: The test I performed was with logic that told the first annunciator light to activate *if* airspeed is over 35 knots (this is just a simple logic test of the system and that all works). My first annunciator light happens to be "Check Oil" so, remember, this was just a test that the new Garmin Interface logic (that the AH systems needed) was working properly.
Airspeed accomplished by a very sophisticated process.... (a kids party balloon over pitot)!

As a follow-up to the RS232 feed which you have written the Protocol for the Garmin interface, can you tell me how often for example the airspeed data is sent? Is it every time it sees a change in value or every x-seconds or?

It is updating with the full rate of the AHRS input, which is 15 times per second.
